Question: What are the benefits to installing 3/4" inch rubber mats over 1/2" rubber mats for weight room flooring? Is durability, appearance, or surface protection improved? Also, what is the typical price difference between the two levels?
Answer: Primarily surface protection, and noise buffering. Yes, it is more durable as well. Price difference is $8 per 4'x 6' mat.

Question: What are the benefits to installing 3/4" inch rubber mats over 1/2" rubber mats for weight room flooring? Is durability, appearance, or surface protection improved? Also, what is the typical price difference between the two levels?
Answer: In response to your inquiry re Pawling's recommended applications for 1/2" and 3/4" thick Punishment pads, we offer the following guidelines: Use 1/2" pads for standard free-weight workout applications, underneath barbell storage racks, or for general purpose fitness center flooring. Use 3/4" pads for heavy power lifting or for highly concentrated free-weight areas, and areas requiring maximum sound-dampening performance. Both thicknesses feature the same stipple pattern on the top surface, and both thicknesses exceed the slip resistance requirements established by ADA for both wet and dry conditions

Question: What are the benefits to installing 3/4" inch rubber mats over 1/2" rubber mats for weight room flooring? Is durability, appearance, or surface protection improved? Also, what is the typical price difference between the two levels?
Answer: The durability and surface protection would improve due to the thickness but the appearence would be the same. The price is typically about $8-10 more expensive per mat but I would recommend the 1/2" mats for all major weight rooms unless there is some extremely heavy lifting and dropping of the weights.

Question: What are the benefits to installing 3/4" inch rubber mats over 1/2" rubber mats for weight room flooring? Is durability, appearance, or surface protection improved? Also, what is the typical price difference between the two levels?
Answer: THE 1/2" FLOORING IS ADEQUATE FOR ALL FREE WEIGHT AREAS UNLESS YOU PLAN TO USE 3/4" FOR MAKING YOUR OWN POWER LIFTING PLATFORMS. THE 1/2" IS JUST A DURABLE AS THE 3/4". THE ONLY SCHOOLS USING 3/4" ARE THOSE WHO ARE TRING TO MATCH EXISTING 3/4" FLOORING OR WHO PLAN TO MAKE THEIR OWN POWER LIFTING PLATFORMS. THE 1/2" X 4' X 6' RUBBER BLACK MATS AT $40.00 EACH PLUS SHIPPING AND THE 3/4" IS $50.00 EACH PLUS SHIPPING. Question: What are the benefits to installing 3/4" inch rubber mats over 1/2" rubber mats for weight room flooring? Is durability, appearance, or surface protection improved? Also, what is the typical price difference between the two levels?
Answer: There are many benefits of installing rolled rubber flooring instead of mats. The mats look like a puzzle, normally they are installed very poorly and besides looking unprofessional, they gather dust and dirt and sweat, etc. in their seams. The rolled product is nomally fully glued down and is virtually seamless. Also, normal weight room use only needs 3/8" flooring, not 1/2 or 3/4". This will also save in the cost of the flooring and especially in shipping charges since the black mats weight a ton:-). As far as durability, the rolled goods last forever, just like the other. They are all made out of recycled tires so there is no difference expect that the rolled flooring normally has some color specs in it which makes it a lot better looking:-) Hope that answers your questions. Question: What are the benefits to installing 3/4" inch rubber mats over 1/2" rubber mats for weight room flooring? Is durability, appearance, or surface protection improved? Also, what is the typical price difference between the two levels?
Answer: The standard weight room flooring is 3/8" thick at a MRSP cost of $5.70 per sq ft. While 1/2" or 3/4" may appear to be stronger product, besure to check out its specifications.
